Ask any woman and she will tell you how much she hates a man to promise her something and then not do it. Matter of fact, try making a promise to a child and see if they forget. Also, see what happens the next time you promise something.

In business, it’s the same way, yet now we are talking about your bottom line and your ability to generate repeat business. If you consistently say things that you don’t follow through on, eventually it will bite you in the butt.

There will be times when you actually intended on doing something and honestly could not, yet if you have said this again and again without any real efforts of keeping your promise and sometimes it doesn’t matter, you will lose your good reputation, providing you have one and also lose a client.

Bottom line, don’t make promises that you can’t keep, which almost translates to don’t lie to your clients.

Be in it for the long haul and the best way to do that is to do what you say.
